Why PTSYA?

Why Peace Through Strength Yoga Academy? Because we’re like you. Founded by a USAF veteran and two veteran spouses we understand the military life. Deployments? Been There. PCS? Done that. OCONUS PCS? That too. Swing shifts? Yup. Second shift? That too. Nights? Who hasn’t? Weekends? Of course. Deployment with kids at home? Uh huh. Mil-to-Mil couple with back-to-back deployments or even overlapping deployments? Omigosh, give me a few checkmarks.  PCS less than a year after you last moved? Yeah <insert eyeroll>. Household goods left, lost, and/or damaged?  Erg, but yeah.

Military Life Focused

We know the unpredictable military life and are here to help support you in your development (personally and professionally) while helping you become certified to teach yoga. As military spouses, we know how valuable a portable career can be, and there is never an overabundance of yoga instructors on military installations. As veterans, the importance of yoga as a tool to help balance our professional and personal lives; increase productivity and resilience, and find peace through strength—physical strength, mental strength, emotional strength— is proven.

Multiple Times

Our program offers more than one live class to best meet your schedule. We thought about those of you who live in the Pacific, Europe, and all over the US. The classes will also be available on-demand if something comes up in your life that makes it impossible for you to attend class live. Our program isn’t an intensive (eg. 200 hours crammed into four weeks) so there’s no need to take time off from work, yet it’s compact enough that you won’t have to worry about what might interfere with your training.

Small Classes

You shouldn’t be one-in-a-million during your yoga teacher training. We offer an intimate training setting with a max number of 20 participants per class. You’ll have access to all of the instructors and will be able to experience the growth and comradery that comes with a small cohort.

Knowledge

Our trainers come with extensive knowledge and experience. All three instructors have Master’s Degrees in Yoga Therapy and are all RYT/E-RYT 500 certified yoga teachers. With over 1000 hours of education founded in evidence-based research, our teaching staff is knowledgeable in physical and mental health as it pertains to yoga. The curriculum is centered around how to teach to the military community safely and effectively with a focus on their unique population needs.

Inexpensive

We’re here to support you. We believe that an education in teaching yoga should not be a struggle. We offer several payment plans and are currently working with MYCAA and COOL to help you get certified cost-free.
